Anthony McCarron made the case earlier this week that the 1996 Yankees were better than the ‘86 Mets. Grit. Guts and Glory, he argued.
This club and this season had everything, from drama and heartache to redemption and timeless tales and over all that loomed a fiery George Steinbrenner. Great baseball, too.
Coming on the heels of our ‘That’s Debatable’ topic, we invited the Daily News’ veteran baseball reporter to the podcast to dive deeper into what made that Bombers team so special ... even likeable.
We also get McCarron’s take on whether Joe Girardi’s job is safe, what Derek Jeter’s future in baseball holds and whether A-Rod will ever get his day in the sun in Cooperstown.
We then switch gears and move across town and talk about the Mets’ current rotation concerns and the Amazin’ NL East battle with the Nationals.
Finally, McCarron gives us his take on Bryce Harper’s “Make Baseball Fun Again” campaign and talks about his concern for the future of the sport (let’s pick up the pace!).
